macOS Desktop
Reference desktop targetTauri wraps the Nuxt UI and launches the PyInstaller-bundled FastAPI sidecar on port 8009—full Blind Sight, shortcuts, calendar import, Insight, and Polar flows.

Install paths
Production mail flows through the FastAPI sidecar next to the desktop UI. Mobile can pair with that API for Insight and Polar, or use optional direct Gmail when a dev build registers your OAuth scheme.

Platform paths
Same care for accessibility and keyboard flow—tuned for the operating system on your machine.
Tauri wraps the Nuxt UI and launches the PyInstaller-bundled FastAPI sidecar on port 8009—full Blind Sight, shortcuts, calendar import, Insight, and Polar flows.

Same architecture as macOS: packaged UI + `sidecar_api` binary with Gmail OAuth, IMAP/SMTP, SQLite sessions, and billing webhooks.

Linux builds follow the same pattern—Rust shell, bundled Python API, local SQLite. Reach out if you need a curated package beyond source builds.

React Native companion: point `EXPO_PUBLIC_BLINDBOX_API_BASE_URL` at a reachable sidecar for full parity (Insight + Polar). Optional direct Gmail skips the sidecar for core mail but not for those server features.

Onboarding
BlindBox shines when you can feel the layout quickly—so onboarding mirrors the same accessibility care as the rest of the app, step by patient step.

Desktop: run Tauri or dev browser + `./start.sh` sidecar per README. Mobile: Expo with either a reachable sidecar URL or optional direct Gmail (dev build recommended for OAuth schemes).
Sign in with Gmail OAuth or IMAP/SMTP credentials stored via the sidecar. Calendar import is optional: finish Google, Microsoft, or Apple setup from the markdown guides when you are ready.
Dial in themes, contrast, motion, font size, spacing, audio cues, and Blind Sight (desktop) before you invite teammates—settings persist locally.
Basic for one inbox without AI reads; Insight/Plus for multi-inbox and attachment AI within monthly caps. Checkout happens through Polar; the sidecar enforces what each plan unlocks.
Teams & enterprises
Procurement, pilots, and accessibility reviews have a home here too—self-serve when you want speed, a human when you want a partner.
